The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Sorsogon City successfully conducted the Induction Program for New School Heads on June 26–27, 2025, as part of its continuing commitment to strengthen school leadership and governance. The two-day activity was participated in by 21 newly appointed school heads from various public schools across the division.

The induction program was strategically designed to align with the flagship leadership initiative of the Schools Division Superintendent, William E. Gando, known as “THE VILLAGE: School Leadership”, anchored on the 5G Framework. This framework emphasizes collaborative leadership, shared accountability, and the holistic development of schools through collective effort—highlighting the principle that leadership thrives when nurtured by a strong community.

Throughout the program, the new school heads were oriented on their roles, responsibilities, and expectations as instructional leaders and managers of change. Key sessions focused on school leadership standards, governance, instructional supervision, and the importance of building strong partnerships with teachers, parents, stakeholders, and the wider community—core elements of THE VILLAGE concept.

The 5G Framework served as a guiding lens for the discussions, reinforcing the idea that effective school leadership requires purposeful goal-setting, growth-oriented practices, and good governance to achieve sustainable school improvement. Through interactive sessions, sharing of best practices, and reflective activities, participants were encouraged to internalize the values of servant leadership, collaboration, and innovation.

The induction program also provided a venue for the new school heads to build professional networks, exchange insights, and develop a shared vision aligned with the division’s strategic direction. Senior education leaders and facilitators emphasized the critical role of school heads in translating policies into meaningful actions that positively impact learners and the school community.

The successful conduct of the Induction Program reaffirmed SDO Sorsogon City’s commitment to capacitating its school leaders and ensuring that every school is guided by competent, values-driven, and community-oriented leadership. With the guidance of Dr. William E. Gando’s “THE VILLAGE: School Leadership” and the 5G Framework, the newly inducted school heads are expected to lead their respective schools with purpose, collaboration, and excellence in service.
